What to Wear For a Day Hike

It's important to have a complete and perfect clothes if you planning to go hiking.You certainly want to make sure you wear the right clothes. You should wear clothes that keep away moisture from your skin and prevent from getting wet. Wearing the right hiking clothes means knowing the type of trail you'll be on, what the temperature and climate will be, and how long you'll be outdoors. 
So before you go hiking, take these factors into consideration to make your decisions accordingly.


  • Proper Hiking Shoes/Boots
 
 Look for hiking shoes with strong grips, it will help to support for even terrain and give you the flexibility that include some basic rock climbing. Hiking boots are appropriate for simple and advanced hikes, they provide your foot with good support and protect from ground-level hazards like snake bites and thorns.  And there are as many different kinds of hiking shoes as there are trails out there, but whatever you choose, you'll need to make sure your footwear is durable, comfortable, and appropriate for the conditions. If you want waterproof shoes/boots it will keep your feet dry if you will be hiking in wet terrain, waterproof boots are less breathable in warm conditions. 


  • Gaiters 
It is a garments worn over the shoe and lower pants leg to cover or protect the ankle and lower leg. It helps to keep your feet clean and comfortable in the toughest trails. And provide your foot with good protect from ground-level hazards like snake bites and thorns. Gaiters were originally made of leather.


  • Hiking Socks
Choose the right socks when you're going on a hike. Choose wool or synthetic materials that dry fast and let your feet and toes breathe. Wear proper socks to avoid blisters. In winter weather choose thick socks to keep you warm.


  • Proper Hiking Pants/Shorts 

Proper hiking pants keep you more comfortable to move. Wearing shorts give you ultimate freedom and are also cooler than pants. Hiking pants should be made of durable, quick-drying fabrics such as spandex or nylon.Wearing pants keeps your legs protected from hazards such as poison ivy or other allergenic plants, and keeps you warmer when the temperature drops as you gain elevation.


  • Proper Short/Long-Sleeve Shirts
Avoid to wear a cotton clothes, it will get you uncomfortable. The best hiking shirts are made of synthetic materials that keep you dry as you start to work harder and sweat more. Avoid heavy layer clothes when it is Summer. And for the cold weather wear the right thermal that is light, mid, and expedition weights. Cotton shirts is not appropriate if you're going on a hike in rainy weather. The best materials are soft, lightweight, and moisture wicking(absorb or draw off (liquid) by capillary action). You may want to wear either a short/long-sleeve shirt, depending on how hot it is, but remember that a short-sleeve shirt leaves your skin exposed to the elements, including sunburn and scratches from rocks and plants.


  • Fleece Jacket 
It is a lightweight casual jacket that provide thermal insulation but it is not weatherproof so it won't keep out wind and rain. When you go hiking, fleece jacket helps you when it is windy.


  • Wide-brimmed Hat/Insulated Cap
If you hike on a warm weather bring wide-brimmed hat that can shield your face and neck from the sun. And when its cold an insulated cap prevents from losing too much body heat through your head. Wearing wide-brimmed hat or Insulated cap is a great way to keep the sun off your face and protect your head from direct, harmful rays.


  • Gloves 
 
It helps especially when the weather is cold. The waterproof gloves is the best with the separate cloth interior. 


Wearing the proper hiking clothes keeps you comfortable and focused on your journey, or getting wet, sunburn, sweaty, and scratches. Enjoy your time in the outdoors, and make sure to plan your attire and gear accordingly.
